Within moments of meeting Sara, who lives at Cambie Gardens, you can sense her willingness to say, “Yes.”

Sara has made a lot of friends amongst people living at Cambie Gardens and coaches working at CONNECT Partners, always showing up.

“I like getting out to different things in the city and especially being outside,” says Sara. “I am happiest when I am outdoors.”

She has a pass to the Vancouver aquarium, where she loves watching sea otters. Sara also enjoys walking to the neighbourhood coffee shop, Dylan’s.  She says she loves to bake, especially chocolate chip cookies, and shares with the people around her.

“Sometimes if one of my roommates might be having a bad day, or even if I’m having a bad day, I just get outside and it really helps,” she
says, “I go to the park or just get into the sun.”

Sara, 37, was born in Edmonton and lived in Ontario before moving to Vancouver with an
ex-boyfriend.

Due to complications from Huntington’s Disease, Sara moved to Cambie Gardens to be supported by CONNECT Partners. She
says the transition has been fairly smooth and she is happy where she’s living.

“I really like all of the holidays, especially Christmas, so I am looking forward to that. I
am going to buy some Christmas candy. But I like all of the holidays.”

By saying yes to all of the opportunities for new experiences and adventures in the community, Sara is a great example of Life Redesign in action.
